Beginning this Friday morning, February 10, 2012, the School of Film/Video will inaugurate a weekly two hour server maintenance window from 7:00am – 9:00am that will affect all computers connected to our School of Film/Video servers.

This weekly Friday morning maintenance period will permit our technical staff to perform required server and laboratory client machine upgrades, application configuration adjustments and updates, and network infrastructure improvements.

FIND ANY FILE

on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 13:15
A point of clarification regarding Find Any File, which was installed at the time Spotlight was disabled on all School of Film/Video Macs:
Find Any File is located in the Utilities folder, which is in the Applications folder. It does not work using the search icons in the menu bar or Finder windows - you have to launch Find Any File by double-clicking on its icon. We recommend that you drag its icon into your Dock for easy access.

SCHOOL OF FILM/VIDEO SERVER MAINTENANCE; FRI. FEB. 3, 8 AM - 9AM

on Thu, 02/02/2012 - 16:24

The School of Film/Video will be performing server maintenance tomorrow, Friday, February 3 from 8AM-9AM.  The School of Film/Video computer labs and Macs connected to our servers will not have access during this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Spotlight Disabled on Macs

on Mon, 01/30/2012 - 09:25
The MacOS Spotlight search was disabled Friday, January 27 on all School of Film/Video lab computers. This will, hopefully, alleviate excessive server load and some instability of the file sharing protocol (AFP) that serves out the network homes that you use in the labs. Our school Mac admins have been in conversation with Apple and the disabling of Spotlight was recommended by Apple to help alleviate some of the problems that you may have experienced during the fall and spring semesters.
